Namaste!
I am Amanda, I'm a yoga practictioner and a 500 Hour Certified Yoga Instructor specializing in Himalayan Kundalini Kriya Yoga.
I have been practicing yoga for over a decade and fell in love with yoga for its transformational qualities. I wanted to learn all I could about the history, philosophy and rich traditions of the yogic lifestyle. To deepen my knowledge of the practice I enrolled in a Yoga Teacher Training. My search led me to my Guru, Anandji Mehrotra, founder of Sattva Yoga Academy in the heart of Rishikesh India.
The teachings at Sattva Yoga Academy were transformational emotionally, physically and mentally. I will forever cherish my time there.
As a yoga instructor in the Gulfport Fl area, I enjoy teaching classes that focus on cultivating your inner warrior, using breath to gain deeper connection to self and meditation to still the mind. I believe that yoga is not just a physical practice, but a way of life.
My classes are designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional wellness, providing an opportunity for yogi's to connect with their inner selves and find balance in their lives.
Im looking forward to sharing this powerful practice with you!
I plan to update the schedule from the website, but also document my yoga journey!
Let's grow together!
MORE ON ME...
During my travels I completed 40 hours of continuing education at the Sattva Yoga Academy as well. The Dasha Mahavidyas sadhana is a practice of learning and invoking the qualities of the ten goddesses of great wisdom, the dasha mahavidyas. Each Mahavidya represents a specific aspect of the Divine Feminine in Hindu, Tantra and Shakti traditions. Worship of the Dasha Mahavidyas is considered a means of spiritual evolution.
Pranayama practices are not only about breath control but also about cultivating awareness, mindfulness, and a deep connection with the present moment. Regular practice of pranayama is considered a valuable component of a yogic lifestyle, promoting physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual growth. To bring this valuable practice to you in greater depth, In June 2024, I will attend a 500 hour Pranayama and Meditation Teacher Training in Kathmandu Nepal!
Connecting Mind, Body and Spirit

What is Kundalini?
Kundalini is untapped energy, coiled at the base of the spine. The term “Kundalini” comes from the Sanskrit word “kundal,” which means “circular.” It also refers to a coiled snake. And according to practitioners, Kundalini energy is like that coiled snake: It sits at the base of your spine, sleeping and unaroused. This practice uses sound healing, breath work, asana, kriya and meditation, awakening each of the seven chakras. It is meant to quiet your mind while, at the same time, opening your chakras so your energy can freely flow throughout your body.
Compared with other forms of yoga, Kundalini yoga is a more spiritual practice. It still involves physical movements (asana), but they aren’t the primary focus. This is different from hatha or vinyasa yoga, for example, which both revolve around physical poses. Kundalini yoga is also more precise and repetitive. Whereas other types of yoga flow with your breath, Kundalini yoga combines chanting, singing, movements, and breathing in specific patterns.
The intensity of this practice builds resilience, grit, and inner strength. Like other styles of yoga, it can increase your flexibility, strength, endurance, balance and coordination. It reduces stress and anxiety and improves balance and coordination. The practice of Kundalini yoga can help release old patterns and habits and deepen your spiritual practice.
What is a Kriya?
In the context of Kundalini yoga, a 'kriya' refers to a specific set of coordinated and structured yoga exercises or actions designed to achieve a particular outcome. These are often sequences of postures, movements, breath control, and sound (such as chanting or mantra repetition) that work together to create a holistic and transformative effect on the body, mind, and spirit.
Kriyas in Kundalini yoga are intended to stimulate energy flow, balance the chakras, and awaken the kundalini energy. Each kriya is thought to have a specific purpose or benefit, ranging from physical health to mental clarity and spiritual awakening. The practice of kriyas is a central element in Kundalini yoga, and practitioners often follow a prescribed sequence of kriyas as part of their routine.
The combination of these elements is believed to have a synergistic effect, facilitating the overall goal of Kundalini yoga – the awakening and balancing of spiritual energy.
